Clubnights
Club night is at 7.30 pm on the second Monday of each month except December and January. Meetings are held in the North Otago Search and Rescue Headquarters, 1 Severn Street. Entrance is the first on the left from the bottom of Severn Street. Potential members are welcome.
Trip Costs
Trip transport costs are shared among participants. Some trips involve additional accommodation and activity costs.
Trip Grading
E Up to 4 hours walking on tracks
M Up to 8 hours walking, reasonable fitness needed.
F Over 8 hours walking, usually rough terrain, a higher level of fitness and alpine equipment often needed.

Saturday 18th – Sunday 19th April: North Temple
The North Temple is possibly the most accessible alpine cirque in New Zealand. On Saturday, drive to Temple shelter and walk the 2 ½ hours or so up the North Temple valley, including crossing the river and several side streams. Explore the cirque, camp overnight and return on Sunday. Tents required.

Day trips including Ship at Anchor in the Lammermoor Range. Stay with friends or at Dunedin Holiday Park.

Sunday 3rd May: Tara Peak (909 metres)
Tara Peak is the second highest peak in the Campbell Hills at 909 metres. It involves a steady climb of 500 metres on beautiful tussock country with great views.

Saturday 9th – Sunday 10th May: Spurs Hut
Spurs Hut is a hidden South Canterbury gem. An easy overnight trip with a 2 ½ hour walk up the North Opuha River to a restored musterers’ hut. Tents advisable.

Monday 11th May: Club Night: AGM – Trip Planning
The Club’s Annual General Meeting will be held followed by Trip Planning for the July-September period. Members are urged to consider taking an active role in the club’s administration and bring ideas for exciting winter trips.

Sunday 17th May: Mount Meyer (795 metres)
Start from Little Roderick on the north side of the Waitaki River, climb 400 metres to Mt Meyer, drop down to Mt Orr Stream then climb up a side valley to the saddle above little Roderick and back down.

A 1300 metre climb from near Wedderburn led by Rodney. 4WDs desirable.

King’s Birthday weekend: Saturday 30th May – Monday 1 June: Herbert Forest-Waianakarua Reserve
Starting at the Swallows car park, walk up forest tracks to Mt Misery Road and over to the Kahikatea Hut to stay the night. Day 2 go down to the middle branch of the Waianakarua River and climb up a ridge to the Staircase Hut for the second night. Day 3 walk out via Staircase Ridge and Herbert Forest tracks to the Swallows car park. Tents required.
